Charles Edward Davis

Charles Edward Davis 96, of Hurricane, WV passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2024 with his loving wife of 75 years, Charlene, by his side. He was born on January 23, 1928 to the late Thelma and Ira Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick O’Dell. Charlie proudly served our country in the US Navy on-board the USS Noa. Thereafter, he was a loyal employee of Union Carbide for 37 years. Throughout his life, Charlie was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. For 50 years, he was a Master Mason, belonging to Kanawha Lodge #20 Charleston, Valley of Charleston Scottish Rite and Beni Kedem Shriners. Charlie was especially proud of his involvement with the Shriners Children’s Hospital Lexington, becoming Emeritus on the Board of Directors after serving 12 years. He was also an American Red Cross volunteer. In retirement, Charlie loved woodworking, photography, traveling with Charlene and family beach trips. To all who knew him, Charlie was a family man with a strong faith. He was outgoing, mannerly, kind, gracious, and entertaining. To all who knew him, Charlie will be greatly missed. Charlie was also a loving father to Jeff Davis (Edie), Martha O’Dell (Don) and Beth Trumpy (Dave). He was blessed with 9 grandchildren (Ashley Reed, Katie Perperas, Adam O’Dell, Ben O’Dell, Patrick O’Dell, Lindsay Johnson, Caroline Birman, Michael Trumpy and Claire Meyer) as well as 15 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends consider making memorial donations in Charlie’s name to either: Transportation Fund at Beni Kedem 100 Quarrier Street Charleston, WV 25301 or Teays Valley Presbyterian Church 5339 Teays Valley Road Scott Depot, WV 25560. Funeral Service for Charlie will be 12:00 noon Wednesday April 24, 2024 at Teays Valley Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Keys officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park South Charleston, WV. Friends may visit the family an hour prior to the service at the church.
