John O'Dell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Hurricane, WV- John Chilton O?Dell, 91, of Hurricane, WV passed away December 10, 2010 at Hubbard Hospice House following a short illness. Born December 9, 1919 on Dutch Ridge, Kanawha County, he was a son of the late Phillip Henry and Mary Esta Mace O?Dell. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Melba Mary O?Dell; his sister, Eloise Peden; his brother, Walter O?Dell and his granddaughter, Elizabeth Gayle Vaughan. Mr. O?Dell was a member of First Baptist Church, Hurricane and was a retired chemical operator with E.I. DuPont, Belle, WV. He served his country during World War II with the United States Army with tours in the South Pacific as well as Okinawa. With a deep appreciation of his family, he was continually helping with home construction projects and was active with the Little League Baseball program in the Charleston area. Surviving are his loving wife, Lenore Jarrett O?Dell; his daughter, Marcia O?Dell Vaughan of Boone, NC; his sons, Doug O?Dell of Hurricane; Don O?Dell and his wife, Martha of Huntington; his sister, Sabina O?Dell Sucharski of Rockledge, FL; his brother, Frank O?Dell of Ashland, KY; his grandchildren, Valerie, Sam, Annie, Matt, Adam, Benjamin and Patrick; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11am Monday, December 13, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Hurricane with Jim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, WV.
