Margery Miller

Margery Mynes Bird Miller, 88, of St. Albans passed away peacefully at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Home on Monday, December 3, 2018, after a short illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Hazel Mynes husbands; Calvin Bird and Roy Miller; sister, Vee Frances; step-daughter, Janet Walker. She is survived by her son, Rick Bird (Alice), her step-daughter, Shirley Crouch, her step-son Denny Miller (Bonnie). She was grandmother to 7 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great- Great Grandchild. She was a lifelong resident of St. Albans, a graduate of St. Albans High School and a graduate of Charleston School of Commerce. She was hired by the city of St. Albans in 1956 as secretary and remained in that roll until her appointment to Deputy City Clerk in 1966. She retired in 1987 with 30 years of service. She was involved in her community and served on many committees including sitting as secretary of the Planning and Zoning commission for many years. She was an avid camper and spent her spare time at Rivers Edge Scenic campgrounds surrounded by close friends. She was also well-known by locals for playing the Halloween witch for neighborhood children in St. Albans. The family would like to thank the loving and supportive staff at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Home for making her stay welcoming and comfortable. “She has gone on a journey we all must take, like the flowers and leaves, her season has ended. She will be returned to God as intended.” At her request, there will be no visitation or service. Because of her love of education and community, she donated her remains to the Human Gift Registry, Marshall University School Of Medicine, so medical students may gain the knowledge they need to help others.
