Dr. Nolan C. Parsons Jr.

Nolan C. Parsons Jr.. MD of St. Albans passed away August 20, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House, West South Charleston after a long fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease, he was 70 years old. Nolan was born in Parkersburg, raised in Belmont and was the eldest child of Nolan C. Parsons Sr. and the late Lorena M. Kelly. While in St. Mary’s High School, Nolan was chosen for the WV Boys State Leadership Academy and Ken Hechler’s “Week in Washington”. In 1963, he was the Valedictorian of his class and a National Merit finalist. Nolan then went on to graduate from West Virginia University where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. At West Virginia University School of Medicine, Nolan excelled and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Following graduation in 1971, he served a one-year internship in internal medicine and a two-year residency in dermatology. In 1975, he began his two year commitment with the United States Army, as the rank of Major at Ft. Polk, LA. Nolan began his private practice, specializing in the field of dermatology in 1977. He was a member of the Kanawha Medical Society and a clinical professor for West Virginia University School of Medicine at their Charleston campus. Dr. Parsons retired in 2011 after 34 years of service to our community. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Board Parsons, their children, Sarah Parsons of Charleston and Scott K. Parsons of St. Albans; three grandchildren, Jayden Cabell, Bailey Parsons and Nathan Parsons; Nolan’s father Nolan C. Parsons Sr.; sister Marjorie Ann Parsons of Belmont and brother, R. Patrick Parsons (Cheryl) of Elkview. Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm Saturday August 27, 2016 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans with the Rev. Dr. Ed Grant officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm until service time Saturday at the church.
