Norma Kay Bocco Scott

Norma Kay Bocco Scott, of Hurricane, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at Charleston Area Medical Center – General Division following a brief illness. She was born in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late George William Mark Bocco and Virginia Elizabeth Teter Bocco. She was also preceded in death by her sister Sandra Dolores Nutter, father-in-law and mother-in-law, J. Wayne and Ruth S. Scott, brothers-in-law, Jimmie D. Flanagan and John L. Scott and stillborn twins. After graduating from Roosevelt-Wilson High School, she worked as a legal secretary for Deem and Marstiller in Clarksburg and Steptoe & Johnson in Charleston. After graduating from Nursing School at the University of Charleston, she began her nursing career working at Charleston Area Medical Center in Memorial, General Divisions and in the Newborn Nursery at Women and Children’s Hospital. She ended her career as an Occupational Health Nurse in the chemical plants with Rhone-Poulenc, Monsanto/Flexys and DuPont and retired in 2004. Norma served the Lord at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church and most recently at First Missionary Baptist Church in Culloden, WV. Her great joys were singing in the choir and being a prayer warrior. She also enjoyed exercising at the gym, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband whom she married over 50 years ago on February 10, 1968, Jesse W. Scott, II, one son, Jesse W. Scott, III, daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Jennifer E. Scott Holland and Brett Holland and her pride and joy eight month old grandson, Jayden Scott Holland. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Pam Scott and Mary Beth Flanagan and brother-in-law, David Nutter and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 9, 2018 at Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 3926 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane with the Pastor Claude Spurlock and Dr. John Smith officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.
