Barbara Susan Belcher

Barbara Susan Belcher, 79, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, passed away on March 31, 2026, surrounded by the people who love her most. She was born on November 1, 1946, in Indian River, Florida, to the late Temer and Ruth Rivenbark. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her brothers, Jimmy and Gary, traveling throughout the South as they built homes and devoted themselves to their faith as Jehovah’s Witnesses, sharing the teachings of the Bible. Their journey eventually led them to Logan, West Virginia, where the chapter of her life that would be defined by love and purpose began. It was there she met Keniman Belcher. They quickly knew they could not bear a life apart and were married on December 7, 1968. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, perseverance, and an enduring devotion to one another. Barbara loved Kenny with a steadfast, unwavering constancy, there was nothing she would not do for him or for her family. They welcomed their sons, Keniman Jared and Brooks Jody, who became the center of her world. She loved her children with a fierce, watchful tenderness, carrying them always, guiding them with a care that was both protective and enduring. Their years together were rich with purpose: building countless Kingdom Halls and houses, caring for aging parents, teaching others about the bible, navigating the challenges and rewards of building a thriving business, traveling together, gathering laughter and lifelong friendships and finding their greatest joy in watching their family grow. From summer trips to Holden Beach to winters spent skiing, Barbara brought warmth and intention to every season. To call Barbara devoted does not fully capture her. She was the steady heartbeat of her family, the one who noticed, who carried, who quietly made everything better. She had a rare instinct for caring, especially for those who might otherwise be overlooked, loving with a depth that was both vigilant and unrelenting. Her home was a sanctuary. Warm, welcoming, and full of life. She found joy in gathering people together, in creating beauty, in making others feel seen and cherished. Her hospitality was not simply an act, but an extension of who she was. She had a particular tenderness for children, especially her grandchildren, Jackson, Roman, Brooks, and Cohen, whom she loved as deeply and fiercely as her own. Her love was constant and selfless, given freely and without measure. She was also full of life, funny, lighthearted, and always ready for a laugh, yet steady and resolute in what mattered most. She was a force: strong, capable, and endlessly giving. Wherever she went, she left things better than she found them, homes, lives, and hearts alike. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Keniman Belcher; her sons, Jared Belcher (Trilby) and Jody Belcher (Natalie); and her cherished grandchildren: Jackson, Roman, Brooks, and Cohen. She is also survived by her nephews Matthew (Angie), Gary, and Randy; her nieces Melissa and Michele; and many dear friends who felt like family. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jehovah, her gracious spirit, and the depth of her love. More than anything, Barbara was the thread that held it all together, the quiet strength, the constant presence, the love that made a house a home.
