Betty Jo Groscup

Betty Jo (Kossuth) Groscup 83, of St. Albans entered into life eternal on October 14, 2014 at her home. Born December 6, 1930 in Leewood, Betty was a wise, kind, gentle and sweet-spirited soul who loved cooking, sewing, ceramics and volunteer work. She was a loving mother and grandmother who made her home feel like a bit of Heaven. Betty grew up in Powellton and graduated from Montgomery High School. She played clarinet in band and was a member of the National Honor Society. Betty Jo has joined her loving husband of 52 years, Jim and beloved son, Jimmy; as well as parents, Jacob and Nellie Kossuth; infant sister, Eva; sister, Catherine Mack and brother, J.J. “Jim” Kossuth. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Jeanette Brown and husband, Rev. Duane Brown of Longville, Minnesota, Joellen Marie Groscup of St. Albans; daughter-in-law, Susan Groscup of St. Albans; sisters, Thelma Cunningham of Branson, MO, Glenice (Bob) Perry of Brunswick, OH; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Kossuth of Green Cove Springs, FL, Marguerite Groscup of Morgantown, Mary Nicosia of Rock Hill, SC; four granddaughters, seven great grandchildren (and one on the way); as well as many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to everyone from Kanawha Hospice who were involved with Betty’s care (too numerous to mention) especially Lorrie, Beth and Aniya for all their kindness. Also volunteer Barbara and the ladies of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church who sat with Betty, enabling Joellen to run errands. Celebration of Witness to the Resurrection will take place at 11:00 am Friday, October 17 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, St. Albans with Rev. Barry Moll and Rev. Duane Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday at the church.
