Caroline Cloer

Caroline Sue Cloer, 70, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Thursday,May 3, 2012 at her residence with her family and pet poodle ?Pete? by her side. She was born January 11, 1942 at St. Albans to the late William and Gloria Stanley. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law,Olyve W. Cloer. Her career started as a teacher at Lakewood Elementary and concluded forty years later as Assistant Superintendent for Kanawha County Schools. Caroline, along with her husband, was co-chair of the Baptist State Convention in 1996.In 2006 they organized and orchestrated the State Convention. She served on various boards at First Baptist Church of St. Albans. She was a charter member of the Couples for Christ Class, then the Friends in Christ Class, and was teaching the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. She was very active in the development and organization of the current church library and was church librarian. In the past, she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and directed one of the children?s choirs. She was a member of the Kanawha County Public Library Board of Directors both at the county level and the City of St. Albans. She has been very active in the Alban Arts and Conference Center and the St. Albans Partnership. She was vice President of the Riverlake Residents Association and a member of the St. Albans Historical Society. She was a very active member of the St. Albans Woman?s Club. Her hobbies were reading and traveling. Surviving is her loving husband of 43 years Tom Cloer, Jr., son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Sara Cloer of South Charleston, sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Jim Wagner of Barboursville: brother, Bill Stanley and partner, Bob Gatarz of Harpers Ferry. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Mia and Graham Cloer. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of St. Albans, corner of Sixth Ave.,and Second Street, St. Albans with Rev. Joel M. Harpold officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday at the church.
