Chad O'Dell

Chad O’Dell, 46, of Hurricane, WV passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House. Chad, born on December 31, 1971, in Montgomery WV, was the son of Harold and Terry O’Dell of Canvas, WV. He grew up in Summersville, WV and graduated from Nicholas County High School in 1990. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He attended West Virginia University and graduated with B.A. degrees in history and economics in 1998. He was a brother of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Chad was employed as a Senior Account Representative at CleaRESULT Consulting, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca O’Dell; children, Emma O’Dell and Nathan O’Dell; parents, Harold and Terry O’Dell of Canvas, WV; brothers, Wesley O’Dell (Anna) of Summersville, WV and Brandon O’Dell (Rolf) of Amsterdam, Netherlands; and grandmother Jo O’Dell of Fayetteville, WV. As well as many extended family members and friends. Chad was a dedicated father and husband with a fun-loving nature. With his family he enjoyed skiing the slopes of Snowshoe, boating at Summersville Lake, and vacationing on the beaches of the Outer Banks and St. Croix. He loved following Mountaineer football and basketball and would discuss the details for countless hours with his friends. He was a campfire philosopher spending many an evening and night pondering simple and complex matters with those he held dear. On Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11 am there will be a visitation held at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, WV. A brief service will take place at 1pm. The family requests that they be joined for a celebration of his life at the Valley Park Community Center, Hurricane, WV immediately following the service. They also invite you to bring a treasured photograph or written memory you wish to share. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Chad O’Dell to Dana Farber Cancer Institute at myjimmyfundpage.org/give/chadodell. These funds will be dedicated to research for battling NUT Midline Carcinoma. Chad fought fiercely in his battle with this cancer and desired to aid in finding an end to this dreadful disease.
