Charles "Dick" L. Stowers

Charles Leslie “Dick” Stowers, Jr., 87 of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 24, 1927 in Charleston, West Virginia, a son of Charles L. and Thelma E. Burgess Stowers. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Stowers Walton; brothers, James F., Robert R. and Paul G. Stowers. Dick was a retired Captain for the Charleston Fire Department with 24 years and 3 months of service. He was a former salesman for Peerless Block & Brick and Rhodes Brick & Block. He served his country in World War II with the Merchant Marine during 1944–1946. He was a member of the I.A.F.F. #317, St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans, Member & Past Master of the Washington Masonic Lodge #58 A.F. & A.M., St. Albans, Past District Deputy Grand Master in 2002, Past Junior Grand Deacon in 2005, Grand Representative of Georgia in WV, 32nd degree Mason-Scottish Rite, KCCH, York Rite/Kanawha Commandry/Knights Templar, Beni Kedem Shriner, St. Albans Order of the Eastern Star #79, American Legion #73 and the Nitro Moose Lodge #565. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Mary Lou Ingram Stowers, daughters and sons-in-law; Debbie Ann and Art Lambert of Washington, WV and Judy and Keith Hardin of Culloden, WV; grandchildren, Dianna Waugh, Carey, Ben & Nathan Hardin; Traci Lambert Bubalo and husband Steve of Westfield, IN and Tricia Lambert Field and Husband Robert of Noblesville, IN; great grandchildren, Nora Jane Waugh, Sam Lambert, Danny, Kevin and Michael Bubalo, Alex (A.J.) Katie, Amelia and Hallie Field. Also survived is one sibling Sandra Sue Samples. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 815 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans with the Rev. Kenny Coon, Art Lambert (son-in-law) and Rev. Loretta Isaiah officiating. Interment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens where Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Washington Lodge # 58 A. F. & A. M. and Military honors conducted by the St. Albans American Legion #73.
