Christine Jeanette Spencer

Another angel received their wings with the passing of Christine Jeanette Spencer, age 62, of Milton, West Virginia. She left us on December 25, 2024 while at, St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia, leaving us in deep sorrow. Chris was born June 23, 1962 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Jack Frederick and Carole Sue Barens. She attended Rudyard Area Schools until they wouldn’t allow her to stay because she was pregnant. She was determined to graduate so she attended night school until she received her GED. She was blessed with a baby girl and later, a son. They were her dream come true and they meant the world to her. She did some babysitting and became a Brownie leader while her daughter was enrolled. She later got jobs outside the home, working at Day’s Inn, Rudyard Schools and Kinross Co-op. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitch and plastic canvas. She was always making things for others and bringing joy to their lives. She greatly enjoyed spending time outside and did many things to be outdoors. Vegetable gardens, flower gardens, hunting, fishing, boating, camping... whatever would call her outside. She was an energetic person who loved to travel so she later moved to warmer climates making more friends along the way and enjoying all the time she was able to spend outside soaking up the sun. The thing she loved most of all was her family and friends. She enjoyed visiting, playing games and joking around. She will always be remembered by her sister Kathy for telling her that she was the reason she broke her leg as a child. Maintaining that Kathy did it by pushing her from the couch. She enjoyed any time she was able to spend with family and prayed that they all knew how much she loved them. She was always there when you needed to talk and after telling her you loved her, she always came back with “Love you more”. She left a legacy of kindness, compassion, caring and humor. She leaves behind 2 children. Her daughter, Tina (Jeff) DeColumna of Stalwart, MI and her son, David (Amy) Spencer of Kinross, MI. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. She also leaves 4 sisters, Debra (Ken) Lovegrove of Dafter, MI, Kathleen (Tarry) McMillan of Rudyard, MI, Laurie Maahs of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Renee Jones of Rudyard, MI and 2 brothers, Kurt MacDougall of Kincheloe, MI and Stuart MacDougall of Pensacola, FL along with many nieces and nephews. Her memory will live on in all that loved her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Myrtle Barens and Earl and Sue Johnson. Also, by both parents, Jack and Carole Barens and a stepmother, Fran Barens. Services are to be determined later. Here you had an angel’s soul, now you have an angel’s body. We will miss you.
