Dennis Lester Pease

Dennis Lester Pease, 71 of St. Albans passed away Tuesday, December 13 at Braley Care Home in Hurricane. He is survived by his wife, Andrea of 31 years; son, Trevor David Pease (Leah) of Marietta, GA; stepson, Thomas H. Peyton (Marianne) of Hurricane; stepdaughter, Sarah Roberts (Bryan) of St. Albans; grandchildren, Molly Pease, Griffin Pease, Grace Peyton, Huston Peyton, Logan Roberts and Lillian Roberts. He served in the United States Army for four years, during the Vietnam Conflict, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He was a 1963 graduate of Naples High School, Florida, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and master’s degree in social work from West Virginia University. Dennis retired from Daymark, Inc. after 28 years as Executive Director and was affiliated with the following organizations; West Virginia Library Commission, WVU Field Faculty, WV Child Care Association, Family and Children Together (FACT), United Way Execs, Volunteer Management Assistance Program, Adolescent Advisory Council, Council of Agency Execs, Kanawha Valley Collective (KVC), Citizens Advisory Council, Social Work Advisory Council, Human Resources Association, Task Force on High Risk Youth, Capital City Civitan Club, Boy Scouts of America Troop 6, Christ’s Kitchen Board of Directors, Jericho House past president, Elder at First Presbyterian Church, St. Albans, recipient of the Stuart of Unity Award, St. Albans Rotary past president, and member of NASW. Visitation will be 12:00pm until time for service at 2:00pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans. Dennis was a compassionate man who was committed to serving his community and improving the lives of West Virginia youth. He successfully transformed Daymark, Inc. during his tenure, significantly expanding the programs offered and broadening the outreach to children in the Charleston area. In 2011, his health declined and he retired from the career to which he was devoted. Dennis was an active leader in his church. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, vacations at the beach and playing tennis. He also loved movies, reading and working in the yard. Most of all he was a loving father, husband and grandfather. A special thank you to the staff at Braley Care Home for their loving care and support and to Hospice Care for their care and compassion.
