Densil C. Neumeyer

Densil C. Neumeyer, 82, beloved husband of Ollie Elizabeth “Liz” Neumeyer, of Hurricane, went peacefully home to our Lord after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, on Friday, June 9, 2017, at Hubbard House Hospice West, with her by his side. The son of the late Bryan Eugene and Martha Chapman Neumeyer, Densil was born in, and a lifelong resident of, Hurricane, graduating from Hurricane High School in 1952. After honorably serving in the US Army, he went on to a successful career as a laborer and carpenter at the Nickel Plant (Special Metals) in Huntington, retiring after 33 years in 1993. As well as being a member of the Moose Lodge 868 in St. Albans, Densil enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends, but his truest passion was cheering on his WVU Mountaineers. Along with Liz, who shares his Mountaineer spirit, he leaves countless special memories shared with so many family members and friends -whether in Morgantown tailgating, or from a front row seat in his favorite chair- watching his Mountaineers play ball. Densil was preceded in death by his infant son, Bryan Scott; his loving parents Eugene and Martha, his brother James (Frances) Neumeyer, and sister Betty Neumeyer (the late Cecil) Courts, Sr. Surviving him along with his loving, devoted wife of 48 years, Ollie “Liz” Neumeyer, are brothers Clifton “Lefty” (Charlotte) Neumeyer, of Hurricane, Bobby (Patsy) Neumeyer, of Hurricane, and sisters, Joann Neumeyer (the late Bob) Sovine, of Hurricane, Ruth Neumeyer (William) Parsons, of Virginia, and Arlene Neumeyer (Roger) Austin, of Virginia. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well who all thought the world of their Uncle Denny, as well as many special friends from his years of work at the Nickel Plant. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Chapman Funeral Home in Teays Valley on Monday, June 12, 2017. Private family viewing will begin at 1:00 PM and friends will be received at 1:30 PM. Services will begin at 2:30 PM with burial to follow in the Chapel at Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane, Pastor Don Gatewood officiating, assisted by Pastor Ellis Conley. In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s wish that donations be made in Densil’s honor to the Hubbard Hospice House West @ Thomas.The entire staff was so dedicated, providing not only loving, excellent care for Densil, but endless genuine support, care, and concern for Liz and the family as we navigated through the heartbreak of preparing to say farewell to our beloved husband, brother, and uncle. Our heartfelt gratitude cannot be properly conveyed with words, but the angels from Hospice made a difficult time easier to bear and Densil’s family will be forever grateful.
