Ethel Mae Marino

Ethel Mae Marino, daughter of Shelly and John Richardson, was born on March, 3, 1923. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Richardson, Jr. and her loving husband of 75 years, Henry M. Marino, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Juliet Marino Vicars. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Albert and husband, Mike Albert of St. Albans; her son, Henry Marino, Jr. and wife, Karen of St. Albans; her son John Antonio Marino and wife, Bronwen of Charlotte, NC and her son, Michael Angelo Marino and wife, Mary Sue of Myrtle Beach, SC. Ethel loved her home and family and was truly a dedicated mother and wife in every sense of the word. She always prided herself on making sure that her home was immaculate and tastefully decorated and that it was always open to friends and family. Ethel was well known for her excellent and creative cooking skills and had a knack for preparing a variety of unique meals (especially spaghetti and meatballs) that were always delicious and everyone’s favorite at family gatherings. Although most of her time was spent as a mother and housewife, Ethel also spent several years working and helping run the family business at Henry’s Men’s Shop in Charleston after the children were grown. She and Henry Sr. met many friends and enjoyed many years of traveling and vacationing at their beach homes in Florida and South Carolina. Ethel enjoyed the “simple things” of life and always got excited about going shopping, dining out and visiting with friends and family. She truly had an attitude and energy level that was much younger than her actual age, and stayed very active throughout her entire life. She was indeed a lovely and remarkable lady who set the ultimate example of living life to the fullest, one day at a time. Ethel will be missed and cherished by all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her youthful exuberance, her positive and gentle spirit and her beautiful smile. In addition to her children and their families, Ethel leaves behind grandchildren, Michelle Nester and husband, John of Scott Depot, Brian Vicars and wife, Connie of Winfield, Debbie Orrison and husband, Tom of Winfield, Angela Potter of St. Albans, Chris Marino of Cross Lanes, Kara Short and husband, Roy of St. Albans, September Maxwell and husband, Paul of Monroe, NC, Christina Ernst and husband, Ray of Indian Trail, NC, Melissa Sharp and husband, Emory of Mt. Holly, NC, Patrick Marino of Myrtle Beach, SC and Michael Marino and wife, April of Kentucky. In addition, she also leaves behind 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Per Ethel’s wishes and to fulfill her request, there will be no visitation, and a private family service will be held to honor and pay tribute to her life.
