Gloria Bird Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gloria Clatworthy Bird, 79, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2009, after a short illness. Gloria was born September 3, 1930, in St. Albans. She was preceded in death by her parents George T. (Bob) and Opal Clatworthy and her younger brother Thomas Clatworthy. Gloria was a loving and devoted wife, a proud mother and grandmother, a loyal friend to many, and a joy to everyone she met. She was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Albans for more than 50 years where she taught and served on various boards and committees. She was a proud lifelong Democrat, which made for many lively discussions with her family. Throughout her life she worked several jobs, mainly to earn money for her primary hobby ? shopping. But her greatest love was for God and family, for which she would sacrifice anything. Her smile and joy of life will be missed, but she will live on as an inspiration for how life should be lived. Gloria is survived by her husband, Eugene; her daughter Adele McNamara and her husband Ed of Memphis, Tennessee; her son Joseph and his wife Gloria of St. Albans; her daughter Sarah Taylor and her husband Robert of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her grandchildren Rachel McNamara Fischer and her husband, David; Joe McNamara and his wife, Hannah; Georgia McNamara; Hannah Taylor; Luke Taylor and his wife, Sarah; Hope Taylor; and Micah Taylor. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Deanna Clatworthy of California. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday October 19, 2009 at First Baptist Church, 523 Second Street, St. Albans, WV with Rev. Joel M. Harpold officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. Friends may call from 2-5 pm Sunday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, WV.
