Jacqueline Bowman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On September 17, 2009, at the age of 71, Jacqueline Fay Koontz Bowman of Saint Albans went home to be with her Lord after losing a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 28, 1937, to Hobart Koontz and Gladys M. Jones Koontz. She was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Born in Charleston, WV, she was a 1955 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and lived in St. Albans, WV from 1956 until death. Jackie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church, St. Albans, WV and served many years as Secretary of the Ladies Mission Circle. Jackie was a Christian faithfully serving her Lord. She was preceded in death by her father Hobart Koontz, mother Gladys M. Jones Koontz and oldest brother Russell E. Koontz. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Clarence E. Bowman, Jr. of St. Albans, son, Clarence E. Bowman III and his wife Jan of Nitro. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Holley of Dunbar, brothers, William Koontz and wife Joanna of Charleston, Cletis Koontz of Melbourne, FL, Paul Koontz of Charleston, and Jack Koontz and wife Ruth of Culloden, one grandson, J.R. Bowman of Nitro, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Service will be Monday, September 21 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, St. Albans, WV with Pastor Timothy M. Campbell and Pastor Robert (Butch) Leadman officiating. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. Funeral arrangements are by Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, WV. Friends may call Sunday, September 20, from 6 until 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Monday at Bethany Baptist Church, 2504 Grant Avenue, St. Albans, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund.
