James Dent Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Robert ?Jim Bob? Dent, 77, a former lifelong resident of Scott Depot, passed away April 29, 2011, in Cantonmont, FL. James was born in 1933, a son to the late James Mervin and Sabie Ann Johnson Dent. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict on the USS Lake Champlaign. He retired from Union Carbide Construction, Institute Plant, and was a member of VFW Post 9097, where he held many offices including Post Commander. He also loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Linda Lee Blake Dent. He is survived by his children Deborah Nutter and her husband Steven of Trimble, MO, Malinda Kopacz and her husband Mark of Cantonmont, FL, Brian Dent and his wife Teresa of Petersburg, IN, and Robert Dent of Jeanette, PA; his grandchildren, David, Virginia, Brandon and Brianna; and his sisters, Ilene Beaver of Hurricane, and Rachael Johnson of Radford, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 14, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane, with Pastor Charles V. Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 10-10:45am Saturday at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, WV. Flowers are welcome, or donations may also be made to the Alzheimer?s Association or your favorite charity of choice.
