Mr. James Franklin White

James Franklin White, 84, of Winfield passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Jim had suffered several years with Dementia and declining health. He was born February 24, 1932 in Scott Depot, and was a son of the late Donald and Mary Jane Williams White. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mildred Lucille ”Midge” White, but has now rejoined her in heaven for the celebration of what would have been their 66th wedding anniversary on September 18th. He is also preceded in death by parents Don and Mary White; sister Nayola M. Goff; brother William D. White Jr.; and grandchildren, Jonathan Ashworth, Stacy Cox, and Jennifer Persinger. Jim was able to complete his GED and earn his Associate Degree in Transportation from West Virginia State College. At the age of 19 he started his career with Union Carbide until he retired with 42 years’ service as the Emergency Director. Jim and his wife Midge took membership at Twin City Bible Church in 2007. He was very active as God’s servant until Midge passed away and he became homebound. He still enjoyed reading all the Gospels of the Bible and studying God’s Word. He is survived by his big brother Jessie White Sr. of Winfield; daughters Edith “Tinkie” Cox (Gary) of Blytheville AR, Sandra “Kay” Ashworth (Danny) of St. Albans, Janice Albright (Eric) of Scott depot, Freda Bird (Wade) of Hurricane, Joyce Landers (Max) of Elkview, and Jamie Persinger (David) of Winfield; grandchildren, Anetha Ashworth of St. Albans, Angela Porterfield (Rich) of Hurricane, Jay Albright (Tori) of Scott Depot, Stephanie Lewis (Lou) of Blytheville AR, Erica Doughty (James) of Scott Depot, David Persinger of Winfield, Marissa Persinger of Winfield, and April Massey (Josh) of Winfield, C. J. Landers of Elkview, and Greg Bird (Mary Beth) of Hurricane; and ten great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane conducted by Pastor Scott Bandy. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. You may also visit www.chapmanfuneralhomes.com to share sympathies with the family. Burial will follow service in Heavens Gateway Memorial Gardens, Winfield. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers that became family while providing care for our Dad; Dawnita McCowan, Maddie Barnett, Renee Barnett, and Andi Canterbury. We would also like to thank the services of Hospice and Dad’s nurse Lori McCracken Carter. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be given to Hospice in honor of our Dad or to the Alzheimer’s Association, c/o Putnam Center, 300 Seville Drive, Hurricane WV 25526 in his memory and to continue to fight the disease.
