Jean Ellis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean Campbell Ellis, 88 of Charleston died October 26, 2011 at home. Born in Dunmore, Pocahontas County, she was the daughter of Guy and Florence Austin Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, William M. Ellis, Sr., brother, Guy Austin Campbell and sister, Mary Frances Ross. Jean is survived by one daughter, Sandra Alderson (Jerry) and three sons, William M. Ellis, Jr. (Dianne), Michael C. Ellis (Barbara) and Mark E. Ellis (Debi); eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren will also greatly miss their Mama Jean. A sister, Harriett Freeman of Galion, Ohio also survives her. She was a member of Darlington Methodist Church for more than 20 years and of St. Andrew United Methodist Church for 58 years. She was also a member for many years at Kanawha Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She and Bill enjoyed traveling and visited Japan, China, Russia, Thailand and many European countries. Jean was also an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Jean will be entombed in the Mausoleum Chapel at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. At her request, a memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
