Jesse Don Bohn

Jesse Don Bohn, 94, of St. Albans passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Angels Touch Care Home, St. Albans. Born May 25, 1921 at Pricetown, WV. Don was the grandson of Jesse and Jennie Price and the son of the late Albert and Sarah Minnie Eckler Bohn. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Sarah M. Bissett Bohn, sisters; Margaret Snider and Geneva Bates, brothers: Everette, Glenn and Chester Bohn. Don was a retired employee of Union Carbide Corp., South Charleston where he worked for 40 years as a chemical operator and the safety instructor/trainer for new employees. He was a proud World War II veteran serving his country in the Panama Canal Zone; as a drill instructor for new recruits and finally in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea, New Caledonia and on Luzon. He was discharged in 1945. He was a faithful and loving husband to his wife, Sarah for 71 years. He was a member of the Washington Street Church of Christ, St. Albans and served there for many years as audio/visual coordinator and Sunday school teacher to the teen boys. He was able to repair almost anything and did woodworking as a hobby. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the heart of a servant. Surviving is his loving daughter, Karen L. Heath of St. Albans: granddaughter, Sarah Jesse Heath of New York: sister, June Roberts of Canton, Ohio: sister-in-law: Wanda Snyder, nieces and nephews, Susan Nein, Chris Roberts, Gary Bohn, Mike Snider, Kay and Fay Bissett, Jill Silver, Robert Ott and Brad Snyder. Don’s family would like to extend deep gratitude to his many caregivers for their excellent and loving care. Special thanks to Betty & Bobby Coleman, Whitney, Tonya Norman and also to his wonderful hospice team, Lynese, Beth, Pete, & Melinda and in his final days the staff at Angels Touch, Pam & Stacy, Gwen and Debra. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Cunningham Memorial Park, Upper Mausoleum Chapel, St. Albans with military honors and Minister Eddie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call one prior to the funeral service at the cemetery.
