Julia "Judy" King

Julia F. “Judy” King, 73 of St. Albans passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born July 18, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of St. Albans and a graduate of St. Albans High School class of 1959. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, James E. “Jim” King; mother, Barbara Godby Davis; grandparents, George W. and Julia Godby and uncles, Glen S. Godby and George E. Godby. Judy was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church and steadfast in her dedication and support. To her church family and friends, our sincere gratitude. Your prayers, love and concern is a true inspiration and blessing. Judy’s was a beautiful and loving person and her Christian love, kindness and compassion reflected Christ’s love. She is now resting in the arms of Jesus. To those who loved her dearly; she will always be in our hearts and forever in our memories. What we have loved deeply becomes a part of us. Left to cherish, share her memory, and whom she loved dearly are her sons and daughters-in-law, James E. Jr. “Jim” and Suzanne King of St. Albans and Jeremy S. and Amy King of Chapin, SC; cherished granddaughter, Whitney King of Chapin, SC; loving sister and brother-in-law, June and Jerry Hicks of St. Albans; devoted aunts, Lois Godby Chapman of Scott Depot, Mary Godby Starkey of Melbourne, FL, Lou Godby of St. Albans; uncle, John W. Godby of St. Albans; very special niece, Barbara Hicks-Neddo and nephew, Monte Hicks. She also shared a loving bond with many cousins and loyal friends “Joy” and Charlie Six. The family wishes to thank and express our sincere gratitude to son James “Jim” King, Jr. and daughter-in-law Suzanne for their tender care and devotion during her illness. Deepest appreciation to Dr. Steven Jubelier for his unwavering attention and dedication during her years of illness. Also the excellent care provided by the CAMC Hospital and David E. Lee Cancer Center, doctors, nurses. In addition, the compassionate care she received at Hubbard Hospice House West. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 3, 2014 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 2601 Forrestal Avenue, St. Albans with Rev. Barry Moll officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Saturday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans.
