Kathy Whitt Worley

Kathy Ann Whitt Worley went to heaven on August 25, 2012. Kathy suffered a stroke and was being cared for at St. Mary?s hospital when God called her. Kathy is a caring, compassionate, loving woman who is the heart and soul of her family. She welcomed everyone into her home with her beautiful smile and they felt her warmth and love that makes a house a home. Kathy is the daughter of the late Earl and Patsy McGuire Whitt. She is survived by her husband of 37 years Mike, by her daughter Erin and son-in-law Andy Haughey, and her son Ryan and daughter-in-law Kristin Worley. Grammy will also be the Guardian Angel for her granddaughter Reagan Haughey, whom she simply adored and cherished. She will be missed by her brothers Terry (Deb) Whitt, of Birmingham, Alabama, and John Whitt, of Charleston. Kathy has many nieces, nephews, and dear friends that now will have someone to console them from heaven through difficult times. Kathy lived at Republic, Carbon, Salt Rock, Barboursville, Ona and Hurricane, WV. She attended Decota Elementary, Leewood Junior High School and was a graduate of East Bank High School and West Virginia Tech. Katie, as she was called by her co-workers, made a professional career in the health care field, which filled her compassion for helping others. Through her last few difficult days with us, Kathy received the best of care from the staff of St. Mary?s. The family is forever indebted to Dr. Beam and Dr. Ignatiadis. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the Medical Intensive Care unit Sarah, Keith, Katie, Keri, Sarah, and Candace for the compassion they had for comforting Kathy and her family. Services for Kathy will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Huntington, on August 28th. A Funeral Mass will be held beginning at 6:30 pm, with a brief reception in the connection of the church following mass. Because Kathy is such a giving person, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Hubbard (Hospice) House of Charleston, Emogene Dolin Jones (Hospice) House of Huntington, the Ronald McDonald House of Huntington, St. Joseph Scholarship Fund or to a charity of your choice in her honor. Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane is assisting the Worley Family.
