Larry Sem Clark

Larry Sem Clark, 72 entered into eternal life with his Heavenly Father on October 15, 2014 after an extended illness. Born May 18, 1942, Larry was the beloved husband of Judy Basile Clark, whom he called his angel. Also surviving are his children, Steve Clark of Hurricane, Gregory Clark of Charleston, Julie Gregg and her husband Colonel Joseph Gregg of St. Albans, Bradley Clark and his wife Leslie of St. Albans; sister, Brenda Clark Lee and husband Clarence Lee of Maryland; mother, Helen Clark of Maryland; ten grandchildren, Clark, Cari, Benjamin, Kaitlyn and Daniel Gregg, Madison and Kayla Clark, Phillip Clark, Austin and Airelle Bell and step grandson, Joshua Canterbury. Larry was preceded in death by the first love of his life and mother of his children, Carolyn Sue Clark and his father, Charles Clark. Larry was an inspiration to many as he fought a long, hard battle without complaint as his illness claimed all his limbs, and he became a quad amputee. He enjoyed his many friends and visitors, greeting each with a smile as if he did not have a care in the world. He was so courageous. Larry was retired from the United Bank with nearly 30 years of service and 9 years with Charleston National Bank. He loved history, football and baseball, old cars and motor coaching to Alaska. Larry graduated from St. Albans High School in 1960. To the end he kept in touch with classmates while serving on the reunion committee. He attended Morris Harvey and East Carolina School of Banking. He was also an active member of Ambucs Business Club, having served all offices, including Governor. Also, as a member of the Odd Fellows, he served multiple offices. Larry served his country as an air policeman in the Air Force at a S.A.C. Base in Mountain Home, Idaho. Most importantly however, Larry was a Christian. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor Randy Ledsome officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to www.chapmanfuneralhomes.com.
