Lena Dial Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lena Dial, 89, of Hurricane went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2011. Lena was born August 31, 1922 in Midkiff, and was a daughter of the late Florida June and William Mike Adkins. Lena was a charter member of the St. John United Methodist Church in Teays Valley and was active in Methodist Youth Fellowship, Cub Scouts and 4-H for many years. She was a recipient of the Order of the Silver Star, and she worked as a Senior Citizen Out-reach Worker for the Putnam County Aging Program. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leon Dial; her sisters, Naza Hagar and Missie Hagar; and her brothers, Arnett Adkins, Garnet Adkins, Ardell Adkins, and Mike Adkins. Lena is survived by her five children, Joyce Michels of Charlotte, NC, Harold (Shirley) Dial of Charleston, SC, Suzette (Danny) Chase of Winfield, Pam (Joseph) Brush of Martinsburg, and Paul (Daphine) Dial of Frederick, MD; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; her brother, Harold Adkins and her sister, Glenna Albright, both of Wayne County. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 29, at St. John United Methodist Church, with Rev. Martin Hallett officiating. Burial will follow in Dial-Prichard Cemetery in Branchland. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.
