Linda Lou Oxley

Linda Lou Oxley, 67, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital after a long illness. She was born on July 29, 1948, the daughter of the late Don Woodall and Blanche Adkins Woodall of Hamlin. Linda was a 1968 graduate of Hamlin High School. She enjoyed many years working in retail sales and will be remembered in the Hurricane and Culloden area as an outstanding Avon lady. In that capacity, she received many awards, including the Presidents Award. She was also employed by the Putnam County Board of Education. Linda received Christ as her Savior at the Portersville Church in Lincoln County as a teenager. She loved attending church and helping those in need. Linda enjoyed growing her flowers and working in her garden. She was an active and outgoing person, who had many friends. Linda was married to Clifford Wayne Oxley on August 1, 1969. They had four children and twelve grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Clifford Oxley; mother, Blanche Adkins Woodall; son, Perry W. Oxley (Kellie) of Huntington; daughters, Treva Oxley (Jason Stemple) of Proctorville, OH, Sarah Oxley of Charleston, and Alice Oxley Roma (Jason) of Barboursville; her twin sister, Donnie Chapman (Tom) of Fraziers Bottom; sister, Vicky Oxley of St. Albans, Hazel Duncan (Ron) Hurricane; brother, Glenn Woodall of Nitro; grandchildren, Perry W. Oxley, Jr., Jackson Oxley, Rachael Oxley, Katherine Oxley all of Barboursville: Jakob Stemple, Cole Stemple and Liam Stemple all of Proctorville, OH: Samuel Crowder of Charleston: and Noah Roma, Karolina Roma, Ethan Roma, and Parker Roma all of Barboursville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday October 19, 2015, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. The Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Russell Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.
