Michael "Mike" David Morris

US Army Sergeant Michael David Morris, went Home to be with Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday November 20, 2024 at his home in Huntington, WV surrounded by his wife Sharon and loved ones when he peacefully ended his battle with years of health issues. Michael was a devout Christian man who loved the Lord and he spent many years traveling and spreading the word of God, either through his ministering, singing and managing one of the many gospel groups he was a part of. One of his favorite things to do was to sing about Our Lord. Born on June 17, 1947 he was one of seven children born to late Hansford Leslie and Virgie Lena (Duty) Morris of Milton, WV. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son Michael B. Morris and brothers: Ronnie, Dale, Glenn and Lewis Morris. He graduated from Milton High School, Milton, WV in 1966 and went into the US Army where he became Sergeant having served in the Vietnam War. Michael has three children surviving him: Misty D. Fleck (DeWayne) of St. Albans, WV, William “Dave” Morris (Mary) of Buffalo, WV and Jason C. Morris of Elkview, WV. He also has two step-children, Becky Shecter (Glenn) of FL and Paul Copley (Alice) of Huntington, WV; was also blessed with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Betty Damron of Richlands, NC and a brother, James Sammy (Nada) Morris of Milton, WV. The family would also like to mention and appreciation to Jason Hudson of Huntington for all his care and support throughout the years, as he would often accompany Michael to the doctor and other appointments. Funeral Service for Michael will be 11:00am on Monday November 25, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home Hurricane, WV with Evangelist Charles Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Veteran’s State Memorial Cemetery, 130 Academy Dr., Dunbar, WV with military honors provided by American Legion Post #187 Winfield. Friends may visit with family from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday November 24, 2024 at Chapman Funeral Home Hurricane, WV.
