Mika Gandee Brent

Mika Lee Gandee Brent, 37, of St. Albans, departed this life December 16, 2009, suddenly at her home. She was a devote Christian and a loving mother of three wonderful children; Landon, Logan, and Laine Brent. A native of St. Albans, Mika was a graduate of St. Albans High School (1990) and the University of Kentucky (1995), where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was a registered nurse, and an employee of Mountain State Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons. She was a member of Gateway Christian Church, St. Albans. Born January 7, 1972, Mika was a gloriously giving child of God, and remained one her entire life. She was a beacon of light to many in her church and her community due to her humble, caring, and generous nature. She was a wonderful and tasteful homemaker, with whom her children always came first. She volunteered as a homeroom mother at Lakewood Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wallace and Jerry Pearson. In addition to her children, Landon, Logan, Laine, and their father, Jeff Brent, all at home, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Karen Sue Pearson Setterstrom and Bill Setterstrom, of St. Albans; father and stepmother, Michael Gandee and Beverly Gandee, of Scott DePot; sisters, Kelly Ray and her husband Sean, of Lexington, Kentucky; Stephanie DeLaO, of Midland, Texas; Jeanette Karnes of Glen, WV; brothers, Steve Gandee, of Scott Depot, Tork Setterstrom, of Charleston; paternal grandparents Ed and Lola Gandee of Dunbar; several nieces and nephews. Due to the weather conditons the services have been rescheduled and relocated for 11 am Monday, December 21, 2009 at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with Pastor Dave Stauffer officiating. Interment will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, or one hour prior to the service Monday.
