Montie R. Rigney

Montie R. Rigney 84, of Hurricane, WV entered his eternal rest on May 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mildred Rigney, birth mother; Nancy Jane Rigney, who died when he was a baby; brothers: Billy, C.B., and Ernie (Butch) Rigney, and his sister Susie Gilbert. Montie is survived by his wife of sixty years, Kay; sons: Paul and Michael Rigney of Hurricane, WV; daughter and son-in-law, Joan & Geb Blum of Bixby, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Cathy Rigney of Hurricane, WV; six grandchildren: Caleb (Paige) Archambo of Bixby, OK, Ryan (Hannah) Archambo of Dallas, TX, Blaire (Will) Rigney-Sawyer of Greenville, SC, Michele (Ryan) Lewis of Broken Arrow, OK, Ben (Mackenzi) Rigney of Hurricane, WV, and Jonathan Rigney of Hurricane, WV. Montie had the privilege of seeing all of his beloved grandchildren grow into adulthood and recently welcomed two great-grandchildren Ila Archambo, and Lucia Lewis. Born on October 27, 1939, Montie was raised in St. Albans, WV where he graduated high school and then went on to serve in the WV Army National Guard, being called to active duty for most of his military stint. He then worked 18 years at Union Carbide before founding the custom HVAC equipment company Thermodyne, Inc. in 1984 where he was president until his retirement in 2018. Montie and Kay raised their family in Cross Lanes, WV and were members of Bible Center Church in Charleston, WV. Montie was a well-known supporter of the West Virginia State Police and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and contributed regularly to the Shop-With-A-Cop program and other community charities which revolved around helping local youth. Montie was a good friend to many people and will be greatly missed. As we commit his body back to the earth, we have the Divine hope that his every atom will be reassembled and glorified at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Montie’s Life will be at noon on Saturday May 25, 2024 at Teays Valley Baptist Church 3926 Teays Valley Road Hurricane, WV.
