Nathan Fewell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nathan King Fewell, 86, of Winfield WV passed away on February 14, 2013, in Nacogdoches, TX while visiting his daughter. He was born to the late Thomas J. and Helen Louise Larabee Fewell on August 9, 1926 in Winfield WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Arlene C. Thevenin Fewell, and his brothers, TJ Jr., Charles and Harold Fewell. Nathan was a 1945 graduate of Winfield High School and played football. Nathan proudly served his country during World War II, as a Sgt. in the US ARMY, as a Military Policeman and later as a Military Escort having the honor of taking fallen soliders home. He had retired from Allied Chemical Plant and continued his service to the community of Winfield. Nathan had dedicated 63 years to Winfield area residents wearing many hats, such as 37 years as Chief with Winfield Fire Dept., as well as serving on the Sanitary Board, City Council, and unofficial historian of the town. He was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church and Nitro Moose Lodge 565. Nathan is survived by his son, Larry Steven Fewell and wife, Jilaine of Zanesville OH, his daughter, Cheryl Whitton and husband, David of Nacogdoches TX, his grandchildren, Jason Kellner, Nicole Swick, Jennifer Phillips, Ryan and Leslie Fewell, Tanis Todd and Nathan Whitton, great-grandchildren, Jilaine, Ethan, Paige, and Zoe Kellner, Courtney and Emily Swick, Spencer, Nathan and Joceyln Smith, Jackson and Jake Phillips, Mason and Owen Prescott, his sisters, Betty Moore of Winfield and Ruth Taylor of Hurricane, and his brother Ray Fewell of Winfield. Funeral service for Nathan will be 11:00am Friday at the Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, Winfield Road, Winfield WV with Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Entombment will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House WV, with full military honors provided by the James E. Marshall American Legion Post #187 Winfield. Friends may visit from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield and again Friday an hour prior to the service at the church.
