Pete Cannon Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Pete Cannon, 67, of St. Albans passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on March 28, 2011. He courageously fought Mantle Cell Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for three years, while never losing his sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and sibling. He touched everyone he met. He was born in Saltville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Maxie Cannon; brother, Doug Cannon; and sisters, Barbara Harris and Janie DeBord. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 48 years, Geraldine Cannon; son, Scott Cannon and his wife, Nora, of Evans, Georgia; daughter Tammy Wikner and her husband, Paul, of Eldersburg, Maryland; grandchildren, Morgan Cannon, Kristopher Cannon, Alexander Wikner and Diana Wikner; brothers, Bill Cannon, Delano Cannon and John Cannon; and sisters, Blake Taylor, Nelle Taylor and Darlene Russon. Pete was a commercial truck driver and retired in 2005 from Praxair in Marmet. In his 44 years as a truck driver, he worked at Industrial Gas & Supply in Bluefield and Union Carbide, Coastal, Chemical, and Unison in the Kanawha Valley. He was a 36-year Teamsters Union member and a member of local 175. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, working around his yard and listening to bluegrass and gospel music. He was a West Virginia University Mountaineer fan. In his memory, in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O.
