Phillip Hudson

Phillip Scott Hudson, 45, of Hurricane, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Phil graduated from Hurricane High School where he was an outstanding track star and was named an All-American football player for the Redskins. He continued his dedication to his alma mater by supporting Project Redskin and was extremely proud to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new turf football field this season. Phil continued his education and football career at West Virginia Tech where he graduated in 1990 with an electrical engineering degree. He was a four-year starter for the Golden Bears and named on the Kodak All-American Football Team. He was also inducted into the WVIT Athletic Hall-of-Fame in 2002. After beginning in electrical engineering, Phil's career calling was sales. It began with Bell Atlantic (BANI) which brought us home to WV. Until recently, he was an account manager for Cisco Systems for over 11 years traveling extensively. Phil had just begun a new career path with EMC Corporation which was going to keep him home more with his family and friends. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of almost 21 years, Kim Hudson; their two daughters, whom he adored, Emily and Abigail at home; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Howard Noffsinger of Buffalo; his father, Ray Hudson of North Carolina; his sister, Marion Anderson and husband Danny of Hurricane; his brother, Ed Hudson and wife, Manuela of Maryland; brother, Chris Hudson of Arizona; half-sister, Vicki Holbert of Charleston; step-sister, Kim Sigler and husband, Mark of Ravenswood; grandmother, Ruth Hudson of Hurricane; his in-laws, Richard and Sue Johnson of Hurricane; his brother-in-law, Andy Johnson and his wife, Jennifer; and his sister-in-law, Ginger Johnson and her husband, Mark. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Clifford Curry and Dr. Dan A. Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, WV.
