Samuel Koontz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Samuel Lamont Koontz II, 93, of Hamlin, passed away June 11, 2012 at his home. He was born July 8, 1919 in Huntington, a son of the late Samuel Lamont ?Monty? and Hazel Vern Johnson Koontz. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, of 61 years, Helen. He was a second generation owner and operator of Koontz Funeral Home in Hamlin for 64 years. Sam was a member of Central United Methodist Church, and was a charter member of Hamlin Lions Club. He was also a member of Hamlin Masonic Lodge #79 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine. Sam is survived by his daughter, Monna Dell Koontz of Hamlin; his grandchildren, Samuel ?Monty? L. Koontz III, Christopher Lee Koontz, Davetta Dell ?Dee Dee? Cooper, and Jeremy Shane Koontz, all of Hamlin; his great grandchildren, Shayna Rachelle Koontz, Zachary Alexander Koontz, Jeremy Gaige Koontz, Dustin Tyler Cooper, and Isaiah Koontz; and his beloved dog, Baylee. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at Central United Methodist Church, 8041 Lynn Avenue, Hamlin, with Rev. R. Buck Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park, Hamlin. The visitation will be Thursday at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
