Sherri Gibson Templeton

Sherri Gibson Templeton of Poca went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2017 at the age of 51, after fighting a long and difficult battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her dearest family members at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital. Over the course of her hospital stay, Sherri was blessed with the most caring and attentive staff of doctors and nurses, who often referred to her as Wonder Woman. Dr. Lares, Dr. Fichter, and Dr. Oldham worked tirelessly to provide her with the most effective treatment available. Sherri had a smile that was contagious with a laugh that matched. She was the life of any party and lived every single day to the absolute fullest. She was strong willed and honest, selfless and devoted. She lived by the motto, “You’ve got to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything.” She enjoyed the simplest things in life and loved nature. But most of all Sherri adored her family, friends, dogs, Buffi and Bayli and horses, Rusty and JP. Sherri will be remembered as a devout Christian, an admirable wife and mother, and a wonderful friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Randy Templeton; her daughter and best friend, Tatum Templeton of Barboursville; her dear father and mother, Darwin and Jean Gibson of Hurricane; and her father-in-law, Jerry Templeton, his wife Barbara Templeton of Milton and the late Sue Templeton. A special visitation will be held on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 6 to 9 pm at Chapman Funeral Home in Teays Valley. A beautiful tribute to Sherri will be 11am Thursday June 15, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Hurricane, 2635 Main Street, Hurricane. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. It was Sherri’s hope to continue a tradition of supplying extra toys and supplies, as well as to assist with trips and activities for Tate’s future Kindergarten classes. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to “Tate’s Babies” to achieve this goal. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
