Thomas Patton Barron

Morning has broken and Thomas Patton Barron, 80 of Hurricane has ascended into Heaven on Sunday June 11, 2017 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston. Born in Eccles, WV, Thomas was a son of the late Robert Patton Barron Sr. and Monette Collier Barron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Patton Barron Jr. Thomas Barron was a lovable man and he truly lived by Jesus’ commandment to love one another. It has been said that he was always in a good mood and showed his love by giving hugs. He graduated from Trap Hill High School where he excelled in football and basketball. Following graduation, he went to Beckley Junior College on a basketball scholarship. Thomas later graduated from West Virginia Tech and began his career as a draftsman with Union Carbide. He gradually made his way up the ranks to lead engineer, and retired after 40 years of faithful service. Thomas was devout in Christ and was a long-time member of Teays Valley Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Sunday school teacher and as a shepherd. Keeping active was important to Thomas, he could be seen around town walking or jogging. He loved to play golf and work in the yard and his garden. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 60 years, Imorene Barron; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teresa Barron of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren that he loved spending time with, Matthew, Sara and Amber; beloved sister, Martha Hall (Jim) of King, NC and brother, Millard Barron (Patte) of Atlanta, Georgia. Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday June 14, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Boy Scouts of America. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
