Thomas Ren Edwards

Thomas Ren Edwards, 87 of St. Albans passed away Monday June 13, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House, West, South Charleston. Born November 6, 1928 in Montgomery, Thomas was the son of the late Owen and Lucille Edwards. He was also preceded in death by sister Jean O’Brien. Thomas was a graduate of Montgomery High School and attended West Virginia Tech. He and his wife Lil are the owners of St. Albans Cleaners and Duffy’s Cleaners. Thomas was the former President of the WV Cleaners and Launderers, the West Alban Lions Club and a former member of the St. Albans Rotary. In addition, Thomas and Lil are active members of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, St. Albans where Tom sang in the choir for over 50 years. “Tommy” as he was known by family and friends had the reputation as a hard worker and a “Jack of all Trades, Master of Many”, he could fix anything! Mainly he loved a challenge and was always happy to help anyone in need. Tommy also knew how to enjoy life, he was an athletic person that loved golf and many other outdoor activities. He was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers football fan and he and Lil along with their friends enjoyed going to football games for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lillian “Lil” Thornton Edwards; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and John Dudley of Scott Depot and Jan and Mark Miles of St. Albans; grandchildren, Ashley Sipe (Mike), Charity Dudley, Luke Dudley and Carly Reich, great-grandson Haven Sipe and sister Barbara Edwards of St. Albans The family would like to thank their faithful caregiver Dotty McAllister for all her love and care over the years, the wonderful Hospice nurses that would come to the house and the staff of the Hubbard Hospice House, West. Funeral service will held at Noon Thursday June 16, 2016 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Tom’s nephew Ed Williams officiating. The funeral procession will leaving the funeral home promptly at 2:00pm and burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be held from 10:30am-Noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
