Thomas E. McClellan

Thomas E. McClellan, 90, of Scott Depot passed away peacefully to be with the Lord, on March 4, 2017 while at home surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Garland L. and Mary Moore McClellan on September 23, 1926 in Huntington WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Piney Hope Johnson McClellan, his sister Ramona Hall, his brother Bob McClellan and family pet Soxie. Tom served his country, family and community by serving in the US Army Air Force, a founding member and Chief for 18 years of the Teays Valley Fire Dept., very active with the Scott Depot Lions Club, Kanawha Valley Woodworkers, Navy Mars Amateur Radio Club as WB8MOX / NOBDM. He retired from C & P Telephone / Bell Atlantic as a Supervisor for over 40 years and after retiring he was active in the Phone Company Retirees called The Pioneers; some of those activities were the Talking books for the blind/hard of hearing, the Sawdust Gang fixing playground equipment in the area and wiring schools for internet years ago. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Robertson, Kim Burgess, and Sherry James; grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Deatrick, Emily (Jay Smith) Burgess, Nicholas (Jessica) Robertson, Esperanza, Jim Thomas, and Wayne Kolster; great-grandchildren, Gavin Burgess, Quinn Deatrick, Adam, Lisa Marie, Mariah and Thomas Kolster, and brother in-law Bob Hall. Funeral service for Mr. McClellan will be 11:00am Thursday March 9, 2017 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Rev. Dr. Melissa Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may visit Wednesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
