Troy Auvil

Troy Wilford Auvil, 77, a 46 year resident of Scott Depot, went home to be with the Lord on January 17, 2012 after a short illness. Troy was born January 17, 1935 in Leadmine, Tucker County. He was the eldest son of the 12 children of the late Rena James and Troy William Auvil of Aurora. In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by two of his younger brothers Norman and Dorian Auvil. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1953. He attended West Virginia University, and graduated from Potomac State College and West Virginia State College. Troy retired from Union Carbide/Rhone Poulenc as a certified electrician after 42 years of maintenance service on instrumentation and refrigeration equipment. Troy was a 37 year member of the Nitro Masonic Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M. He was a 40 year veteran of the International Association of Machinists, the Aerospace Workers Lodge #656, and the NRA. Troy was a Christian, and a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Scott Depot. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Twyla Evans Auvil, whom he married on Christmas Eve; his son, Troy David Auvil of Scott Depot; his daughter, Lisa Auvil Meadows and her husband Scot of Hurricane; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kara Meadows; his sisters, Arvella Smith and her husband Dewey of Clinton, OH, Selma Cummings and her husband Ralph of Aurora, Dorothy Hauser and her husband Clayton of Terra Alta, Loeda Maloy of Charleston, and Jeckie Boggess and her husband Darrell of Rainelle; his brothers, Kenneth Auvil of Aurora, Alton Auvil and his wife Patricia of Aurora, James Auvil and his wife Penny of Randolph, VT, and S.G.M. Ret. Huey C. Auvil of Leavenworth, KS. The funeral service will be 12:00 noon, on Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Parsons, with Pastor Todd Rhodes officiating. Friends may visit with the family 30 minutes prior to the service at the church in Parsons. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Holly Meadow, Tucker County, WV. Their home area visitation will be 6:00pm until 7:45pm Friday at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Pastor Martin Hallett officiating a brief service at 7:45pm.
