Wanda Bowen Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Wanda O?Neal Bowen, formally of St. Albans, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2010, at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, WV. She was 94 years of age. Widowed at a young age, her life became her girls. She was a loving mother who was generous, kind, selfless, and caring. She volunteered at Thomas Memorial Hospital and Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the St. Albans First Presbyterian Church and the St. Albans Women?s Club. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Bowen, mother Delia O?Neal, father J.C. O?Neal, and three brothers and five sisters. Wanda is survived by four daughters, Jane (Paul) Lowen, Judy Richardson, Jean Hardman (companion, Ivan Swanson), Mary Ann Stephenson,stepdaughter, Charlotte Ann (Jim) Floyd of Martinsville, Va., sister, Betty Harrison of Az and sister-in-law, Lorraine(Bill) Bayh, four grandchildren, Jake (Staci) Richardson, Don (Vanessa) Richardson, Missy (Chris) Mitchell, Lenny Stephenson, and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cathy Waugh, Amy Gwinn, and Mary Young for their loving care to our mother. A very special thank you to mother?s dear friend, Bootsie Crouch, for her continued love and devotion. The family expresses deep appreciation and gratitude to all of the staff at Hubbard Hospice House who made our mother?s last days peaceful, allowing the family much comfort. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday September 22, 2010 at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans with Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow the service at First Presbyterian Church, St. Albans.
