William Bird Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William Baxter Bird, 69, of St. Albans, went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Baxter was a Christian and attended Robinson United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir. He graduated from St. Albans High School in 1959 and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service (Hurricane). Baxter loved to hunt and to fish and was an avid gardener. He was a life-long resident of Browns Creek in St. Albans. Baxter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Roma (Good) Bird, his parents, Noah and Alma Bird, and his brother, Darrell Bird. Baxter is survived by his son, William Bird at home; daughter, Debra Jarvis of Charleston; granddaughter, Emily Jarvis of Charleston, stepmother, Helen Bird of St. Albans; stepsister, Claudette Roberts of Scott Depot; stepbrother, Lowell Roberts of Dunbar; and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to thank Dolores ?Boots? Miles for her special care of Baxter during his illness. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans with the Reverend Steve Innman officiating. Burial will be at Bird Cemetery, St. Albans. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
