Wilma Bird Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

When the Lord called, on July 5, 2011 Wilma Irene Gibson Bird, of Hurricane was ready to go to her heavenly home. She was tired after several battles with cancer and was ready to rest. Wilma was born on July 26, 1931 in Milton WV to the late Cline and Clara Davis Gibson. She was a Christian and attended Florida Street Baptist Church in Milton, WV. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Earnest Bird, son Duane Eddie Bird, step-daughter Deloris Ward and two brothers, Max and Clifford Carroll Gibson. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters and their spouses; Carolyn and Roger Stanley and Norma and John Hodges all of Hurricane; three sons, Donald McGhee and fiancée Kathy Mash of St. Albans, Ronald McGhee of Polkton, NC and Allen and Deanna Bird of Culloden; step-daughter and spouse, Wanda and Edward Sovine of Ravenna, OH; step-son and spouse Charles and Betty Bird of Columbus, OH; two brothers Glen and Betty Gibson of Hurricane and Doug Gibson and Debra Thomas of St. Albans; two sisters Faye and Don Cobb and Maxine Bowen both of Huntington. In addition she is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Friday July 8, 2011 at Florida Street Baptist Church, Milton with Pastor James Jobe, Pastor Jason Kessler, Pastor Richard Jobe officiating. Burial will follow in Culloden Cemetery, Culloden. Friends may visit the family from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane.
