February 5, 2021
Our precious Mom, Carol Ann (Lawson) Pauley, 84, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2021 in Charleston, WV with her two loving daughters by her side. She lived a long and meaningful life and impacted so many children and adults in positive ways over the years. She received numerous compliments from everyone she met about her “beautiful smile” and how she was so “cute”. Family, babies, and children were everything to her… Carol was born in Nitro, WV, on April 5, 1936, and grew up in the same house that she and her husband later purchased from her parents to raise their own family. She continued to own this same home throughout the end of her precious life. She always enjoyed cleaning and organizing her home and outside yard, and was very meticulous in her care of them. If you came to visit with her, the first thing she wanted to do was feed you. You only made her happy when she fed you or you allowed her to do something for you. Not only was Carol a loving daughter, sister, aunt, Mom, Mamaw and Little Mamaw, but she also enjoyed caring for many other children over the years. She also provided love and in-home care for various elderly people, usually in the Nitro area. Carol was predeceased by her parents: Park and Icey (Smith) Lawson; sisters: Velma Dean and Lola Schmutzer. She was also predeceased by the father of her two daughters: Carlos Eugene Pauley; and a host of other family members and dear friends. Carol is survived by a loving family whose hearts are broken with her passing: daughters Catherine (Carlos) Jarrett of Scott Depot, WV, and Carla (Michael) Vincitore, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Heather(Jarrett) Bleh and husband Steve of Cincinnati, OH; Scotty Jarrett and wife Kate of Liberty, WV; Brittany (Vincitore) Rogers and husband Wade of Amarillo, TX; Melanie Vincitore of Houston, TX, and Brandon Vincitore of Houston, TX; and four loving, adorable great-grandsons that bestowed her with the title of “Little Mamaw”: Parker Bleh, Carson Jarrett, Christian Bleh, and Elijah Jarrett. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Nelson and Judy Lawson of Sciotoville, OH, two additional sister-in-laws, Treva Ragland of New Orleans, LA and Linda Osborne of Cattlettsburg, KY; and her cousin Ethel Connard of Chesapeake, WV. Her greatest passion was spending time with her “kids”. She loved them “all the bushels in the world”. Her nieces: Kelley (Lawson) Dunham, Wendy (Lawson) Faulkner, and Jennifer (Ragland) Prestigiacomo; her nephews: Sonny Dean, Tim (deceased) Schmutzer, Mike Schmutzer, Doug Schmutzer, Joseph Lawson (deceased), Mark Ragland, Patrick Ragland, Todd Osborne, and Kevin Osborne; her great-niece Karen Dean and her son Zach, and her great-nephew James Dean always loved spending time and making memories with “Aunt Carol”. The family would like to thank all of her amazing caregivers who cared for her with such dedication and loving, compassionate hearts at Bellaire at Devonshire over the past two years. Wanda, Charity, Tyler, Harper, Stephanie, Lois, Alice, Bonnie, Ruthanne, Bobbie, Vicki, Brooke, Bethany, Leah, Zach and so many more…a heartfelt Thank You for protecting her from COVID over this past year and being her “family” when we were in lockdown and could not visit. We will be donating some of her flowers to Bellaire to share with the other residents in Mom’s memory. A very special “Thank You” to all the doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and all the others that have cared for our Mom throughout her multiple health issues that stopped a heart of gold on Friday in a little lady who was so strong, feisty, nurturing, caring, loving, and always worrying about everyone else – our Beautiful Mom. You are no longer suffering as God took you peacefully. Until we meet again, “We Love You All the Bushels in the World!” Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Chapman Funeral Home in Hurricane, WV.
