Douglas McClelland Tucker

October 18, 1933 - January 13, 2019

Douglas M. Tucker 85, of St. Albans died peacefully on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice House with both of his children by his side. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Alma Terry, daughter, Cheryl Sisson and parents, Thelman & Esther Tucker. Douglas is survived by his son, Stephen Tucker and his wife Jean of Camp Hill, PA; daughter, Michele Hatfield and her husband Dale of Scott Depot, WV; grandchildren: Jeremy Sisson and his wife Tanya of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Meghan Musser and her husband Dave of Enola, PA; Brett Sisson and his wife Jenny of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jason Tucker of Summerville, SC; Jeffrey Sisson of St. Albans, WV; Erica Hanna and her husband Joshua of Virginia Beach, VA; Drake, Dylan & Ian Hatfield all of Scott Depot, WV; great grandchildren: Mackenzie & Layla Sisson of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Veronica, Elianna, Stephen & Wesley Musser of Enola, PA; Elenore & Lorelai Sisson of Myrtle Beach, SC; Jameson & Jacob Tucker of Summerville, SC; Maleigha Bryant & Caleb Sisson of St. Albans, WV. Doug was a graduate of Dunbar High School where he ran track and played football. He was retired from Union Carbide Corporation where he worked as a Senior Production Specialist for the Sevin unit for 36 years. After retirement, he worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Dunbar. Doug was dedicated to his family and to his Faith in Christ. He was a member of Lower Falls Baptist Church in St. Albans. He loved fishing and traveled to Canada every summer for many years with friends. He would bring home walleye and bass for a delicious fish fry with the family. He loved West Virginia University football and was a season ticket holder for years. Doug was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors and watching the birds visit his many bird feeders. Doug was known for his corny jokes and great sense of humor. “Poppy” was the best buddy to all of his grandchildren and often their favorite playmate. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sadly missed. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans, with Pastor Brian Donze officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens, Cross Lanes. Friends may call from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, at the funeral home. Bartlett Chapman Funeral Home, family owned and located at 409 Sixth Ave. St. Albans, is honored to serve the Tucker family.
