Lou was a homemaker for many years and became an amazing seamstress, making a lot of her own clothing, clothing for her children and shirts for her husband. She always kept up with the latest fashion trends and incorporated those into her wardrobe. Because of her love for sewing, her excellent skills, and her knowledge of fabric, she took a position at JoAnn Fabric and retired after many years. In addition to her seamstress abilities, she was quite skilled in the kitchen. She loved to cook and have family and friends gather at her home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Fourth of July and many other Holidays. She was a beautiful and gracious hostess. Lou embraced technology and after getting a cell phone, she quickly learned to text her children and grandchildren to maintain a strong relationship with each of them. When she purchased an iPhone, and later an iPad, she mastered both devices and truly enjoyed the option to order the things she wanted or needed online and she truly enjoyed keeping up with family and friends, near and far, on Facebook. She truly was an amazing lady and will be missed by so many. Lou was a faithful Christian and even though she wasn’t able to attend church, she worshiped at home every Sunday with Charles Stanley. She really enjoyed his sermons talked frequently about his messages. She shared her faith with visitors, those who called to talk with her and on her Facebook posts. When the doctors told her that she could not recover, she said, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I’m ready to go.” A Memorial Service will be 2:00pm Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, WV, officiated by her grandson, Pastor Kevin Starcher.
