Maurice Valentine DeLung Jr.

October 16, 1942 - April 8, 2022

Maurice Valentine (Tommy) DeLung Jr., found his heavenly peace on April 8, 2022, at his home in Hurricane. Maurice was born October 16, 1942 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the son of Maurice and Helen Cox DeLung. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Media Ann Courville. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Billie Jean (Ferris) DeLung, two sons, Troy DeLung and wife Marcie, Aaron Lane and wife Elizabeth, and daughter, Tracy DeLung and wife Kay. Siblings, Delilah Rumburg, Janice Hutchins and husband Charlie and Susan Soltess and husband Frank. Six beautiful grandchildren, Ashley, William, and Anna DeLung, and Alexander, Logan, and Nathaniel Lane. Maurice graduated from Princeton High School in 1961 and entered the Air Force in September 1961, serving 12 years including serving in Vietnam. He served 17 years in the West Virginia National Guard, 150th Bluefield Armored Cavalry; receiving numerous awards and medals including a Saint George Medallion and Spurs. Maurice worked for 3M from 1973 to 1984 also working for American Office Systems. Maurice “Tommy” loved sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and camping and fishing with his wife Billie. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Building Fund at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church in Hurricane, or the Wounded Warrior Project. Memorial service will be at 1:00pm Wednesday April 13, 2022 at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. Joe Kenaston officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the church. Anyone wishing to leave an online condolence or memory may do so by visiting his tribute page at www.chapmanfuneralhomes.com.
