Stephen Roberts Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Stephen Harvey Roberts, 75, of Poca, WV, passed away on July 15, 2022. He was born on August 15, 1946, to the late Harvey and Betty Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandchildren, Brett Witherell and Justin Schacht. Steve retired from Bayer Crop Science at Institute as Fire Chief and then enjoyed a second career as campground host at Kanawha State Forest. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and family. Steve loved being on the water and in the forest. He possessed a spiritual gift to serve others and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. Steve is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jane Ann Erwin Roberts of Poca; children, Amy Schacht of Scottsdale Arizona, Wendy Witherell (Ryder) of Felton Delaware, Stephen Roberts of Chesapeake Virginia, Todd Erwin (Mary) of Carrollton Texas and Tony Erwin (Annie) of Hurricane WV; sister, Susan Hutchinson (Ed) of Palm Bay Florida; nephew Ian Hutchinson of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Meagan (Geoff), Brian (Caisley), Kate Elisabeth, Jackson, Grayson, Kate, Evan, Audrey, Tommy, Kallyn and Asher; 3 great grandchildren; and many other extended family and friends. In honor of Steve’s wishes, there will be no service at this time, but a Celebration of Life event will be held later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kanawha State Forest Foundation, 7500 Kanawha State Forest Drive, Charleston, WV 25314.
