Charmaine Bailey Cullen

Charmaine Bailey Cullen, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving husband and seven children by her side at Hubbard House Charleston, following her courageous battle with leukemia. Charmaine is survived by her husband of 56 years (sweethearts since age 11), Steve Cullen of Hurricane, WV and seven children, Kimberly Cullen Burton (Greg) of Charleston, Stephanie Cullen Pyles (Scott) of Scott Depot, Stephen Cullen (Michelle) of Pelham, Alabama, Gwyn Cullen Zain (Martin) of Pickerington, OH, Dan Cullen (Dawn) of Hurricane, John Cullen (Tracy) of Fishersville, VA and Amy Cullen Ilgenfritz (John) of Goose Creek, SC. In addition to her children, she was also the grand-mother to 21 and great-grandmother of 7, all of whom she loved very much and if you ask any of them … “they were her favorite”! Normally listed here in an obituary, you would see her work accomplishments (mom was a nurse for over 50 years) however knowing mom/grandma, her greatest “accomplishments” were her children. Having said that we know she would have wanted us to continue from the list above … Grandsons are Nick and Nate Burton, Sam Pyles, Stephen Cullen, Taylor Zain, Luke Cullen, Mack Cullen, Austin and Travis Jones, and John and Michael Ilgenfritz. Grand-daughters are Hannah and Kaitlyn Pyles, Christina and Chelsea Cullen, Ivey Pittman, Rachel Zain, Brittany Cullen, Lorren Cowan, Gabrielle Phelix and Bailey Cullen. Great-grandchildren are Kieran, Elsie, Arabella, Sean, Lane, Journey and Wyatt. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Chapman Funeral Home in Hurricane. The Rosary will be prayed at 8:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00am on Friday, December 11th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Albans with the Rev. Father Patrick McDonough as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions in Charmaine’s memory to Hubbard Hospice House or Wounded Warriors Project. Chapman Funeral Home, family-owned and located at 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane is honored to serve the Cullen family.
