Dana Curry

Dana Lewis Curry, of St. Albans, W.Va., passed away Sunday, December 11, 2011, in North Carolina. During the previous eight years, he had resided in Orlando, Florida, and recently had relocated to Mint Hill, N.C. Born September 2, 1924, he was the son of the late Soder and Cordie Curry. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Curry; son, Keith Curry; two brothers, Meredith "Todd" Curry and Tommy Curry; and sister, Marcella Eskew. Mr. Curry was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Cannon Company, 21st Infantry, 24th Division Army of the United States of America. He fought in the Pacific and was part of the Invasion of the Philippines at Leyte. He was wounded during his service and was awarded the Purple Heart. He operated his own business, Dana Curry Body Shop, in St. Albans and Nitro for over forty years and was well respected for good work. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Albans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Twitty, and husband Randy of Mint Hill, N.C.; son, Danny Curry of Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Claudia Orr, and husband Charley of Orlando, Fla.; daughter, Annette Crislip, and husband Drew of Clarksburg; eleven grandchildren: Rob Grass of Charleston, Lisa Paysour of Waxhaw, N.C., Jon David Curry of Buckhannon, Philip Curry of Marietta, Ohio, Tony Roberts of Merritt Island, Fla., Andrew Flowers of Orlando, Fla., Christopher King of Knoxville, Tenn., Cameron King of Morgantown, Duncan King of Clarksburg, Colleen Thornbrugh of Morgantown and Ethan Crislip of Clarksburg. He also is survived by four great-grandchildren, Jacob Paysour, Bane Curry, Reese Curry and Joshua Curry, and by his sister-in-law, Norma Curry, of St. Albans. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 16, 2011,at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, with the Rev. Max Hill officiating. Burial will be at Teays Hill Cemetery, St. Albans. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, at the funeral home.
