Dana L. Thompson

Dana L. Thompson passed away on March 4 2015 suddenly at his St. Albans home. He was the husband of the late Rita L Thompson. They shared 46 years of marriage together. Born in St. Albans, he was the son of the late Cecil and Daisy Thompson. He attended St. Albans High School and graduated in 1959. He was retired from John Amos Power Plant and worked as a maintenance supervisor for 30 years. He then worked for and retired from Swanson Industries and worked as a sales representative for 11 years. He was a very hard worker and dedicated to his jobs. He attended the First Wesleyan Church of St. Albans for approximately 30 years. Then he became a member of the Wesleyan Chapel of South Charleston for the past 8 years. He enjoyed his family and was always giving. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, WVU football and was always busy doing something. Sunday was his day of rest. He will be remembered for his love of God and for always giving and helping everyone he knew. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita of St. Albans, his parents Cecil and Daisy Thompson of St. Albans, brother, Virgil Lovejoy and sister Betty Cline both from Columbus; sister, Helen Fuller from St. Albans and sister Imogene Layne. Survived by daughter, Terri (Larry) Hively; son, Dana (Connie) Thompson; grandchildren Stacy, Justin, Shannon, Michael, Travis, Nikki Rachael, Marissa and Matt; great-grandchildren; Logan, Dillon, Lyla Marissa Rae, Gavin, Jaxson, Sophia, Gabriel and Cali; brother, Jerry Thompson and sisters Caroline Sue Goodall, Marty Reynolds, and Debbie Stratton all of St. Albans, and many other family members. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday March 9, 2015 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor Mark Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.
