Danny L. Chapman

Danny L. Chapman, 78, of Scott Depot, passed away at home December 1, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A sweet, kind and wonderful man whose loving heart stopped beating that day is now with God in his Heavenly home. Danny was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Eskew Chapman, his daughter Terri Lee Chapman who also fought a courageous battle with cancer, his parents Scott & Alma Chapman and his brother Duane Keith Chapman. Those left to mourn Danny’s passing are his wife Beverly, his son Scott Robert Chapman (fiancee Kristina Smith) and his grandaughter Shelby Chapman of Morgantown, WV, his stepchildren Chuck Mallory, Cindy Thomas and Dianna Faso of Naples, FL, brother-in-law Robert Eskew (Donna) of Illinois, nieces Vicky Berghorst and Cheryl Jackson. He was born and continued to make his home in West Virginia, the state that he loved so much. From an early age he loved all things with an engine; repairing, washing, waxing and polishing to perfection. He felt extremely lucky to have been able to make his living doing what he loved. He loved fast cars, motorcycles and Nascar. Danny and his first wife, Mary Ann, owned and operated Danny’s Service Center in Kanawha City for many years before moving to Scott Depot and opening Danny Chapman’s Select Cars from where he retired in 2001. Danny loved his home in Beechwood Estates and all of his wonderful and supportive neighbors who helped with their many acts of kindness and prayers. He loved his family, his many friends, his pets and all the neighborhood pets, especially Joanne Twohig’s cat Izzy! Although he fought his battles with cancer since 1996, he enjoyed meeting his soul brother, Roger Randolph, and many friends each morning at Tudor’s where special waitresses and Karen, the manager, became his good friends. He also enjoyed many great meals at Tammy’s Country Kitchen with his buddy, Johnnie Morris. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. William Harris for 43 years of wonderful care and also to Dr. James Tierney and staff for their constant care. Thank you to the wonderful staff of doctors, surgeons, nurses and care givers at CAMC Memorial Hospital and to the great nurses and staff for the tender care he received at Hospice House West and at home during his final days. They are the most competent group of dedicated people our family has had the privilege of knowing. Thank you to Pastor Martin Hallett at St. Johns Methodist Church and to the church family for constantly keeping him in their prayers. A special thanks to his “adopted family”, Roger and Grace Randolph, without whose love and support he could not have endured his final battle. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2013, at St. John’s Methodist Church, 4013 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot, WV 25560 with the Rev. Martin Hallet officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park, 4705 Pennsylvania Avenue, Big Chimney, WV. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
