Edward Fisher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Hurricane- Edward A. "Allen" Fisher, Sr., 82, of Hurricane passed away July 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Liberty, WV he was a son of the late Howard and Ollie Stutler Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Irene Mae Buckalew Fisher, and his brother, Jack Fisher. Allen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Hurricane and his hobbies included golfing, gardening and socializing with family and friends. He was also a member of the Dunbar Masonic Lodge # 159 AF & AM, York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Charleston. Allen was initiated December 8, 1953 into Pipefitter?s Union # 625 of the WV Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Charleston and served as their business manager for six years. He was appointed by Governor Caperton to serve on the Labor Management Council and the State Job Training Coordinating Council and assisted with putting the ACT Foundation together serving as the Executive Director. He also served on the advisory board of the WV Labor Federation, AFL-CIO. He retired March 18, 1994 as the secretary/treasurer of the WV State Building and Construction Trades. Surviving are his wife, Edna Fisher; his children, Edward A. "Eddie" Fisher, Jr. (Tonya) of Hurricane, Beverly Ann Thornton (Ray) of Scott Depot, James Michael "Mike" Fisher (Linda) of Cape Coral, FL, Sandra Kay Fisher of Hurricane; step-children, Bob Pauley of Dunbar, Joe Pauley (Natalie) and Dee Taylor (Danny) all of Letart; brother, Lee Fisher of Charleston; sisters, Pauline Rollins of Midway, Willidene Casto of Kenna; 10 grandchildren, 13 grerat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 2pm Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane with Rev. Millard Mitchell and Rev. Mayford Witt officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
